With innovative software and cutting-edge technology, 5.5inches screen, 16 megapixel rear, 8 megapixel front camera and snapdragon hexa- core 808 processor, LG has launched its new smartphone LG G4 in April 2015 adding a competition to smartphone market. LG has tried to create a balance between a smartphone and a tablet with its big screen size and advanced features. LG G4 comes with a leather backed option as well. A cheaper version comes with plastic back. LG has kept a simple design with hi-tech specifications.

LG offers removable battery and memory card slot which most of other competitor smartphones does not offer. It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS which was reserved for Nexus hardware. LG has added a luxury appeal with its leather back. The smartphone is however not water or dust resistant.
LG G4 was released in Korea on April 29th and will be launched globally in late May or early June. Phone pricing will be consistent with its predecessor G3 when it was first launched. LG is giving 100GB of Google Drive storage for free for two years.

Design:

LG G4 comes with Leather backed and plastic backed option. Both are good. However, the plastic back option is cheaper than the leather one. Plastic back has metallic gunmetal fine finish. Leather back comes in different colors. All backs are removable. So you can access battery, microSD card and mini SIM slots. It comes with 149 x 76 x 9.8mm, thus makes it look bigger than its predecessor G3. It has 5.5 inch Quad HD screen. LG G4 front is slightly curved. This curve will supposedly be beneficial for making and receiving calls. However this front screen curve gives a more designer and interesting look. The back curve is designed to give you a comfortable palm hold. With its 155g weight, the phone seems to be bit bulky as compared to its other competitor phones. There are no buttons on the sides. Instead they are available on the back, just below the camera. The up and down volume controls are larger. Center button is of oblong rather than circular shape. A double tap on screen wakes it up for use.

Screen:

LG G4 has 5.5 inch Quad HD display that delivers 2560×1440 that is 538ppi screen resolution. This makes everything look extra sharp. However this also leads to more power consumption. LG G4 uses IPS Quantum Display and N-Type Liquid Crystals which gives a brighter and color packed display. LG has claimed that it has boosted over 25% brightness as compared to its predecessor G3 and provides 98 percent of the DCI color gamut. SO G4 is much brighter and gives more good looking contrast pictures.

Camera:

LG G4 has 16 MP rear camera and 8MP front camera with phase detection and laser focus features. It also has optical image stabilization and a dual LED flash. LG G4 camera has an autofocus system which is similar to G3 however with a larger sensor size and a faster aperture lens. The camera is very fast, and you get the best quality pictures in daylight, low light or at night with camera’s focus and laser system. LG G4 used 1/2.6 inch sensor size. LG G4 offers fast f/1.8 aperture thus has a capability to deliver more light, faster shutter speeds and less processing that its other competitors. You have three modes of shooting available, simple, Auto and Manual.

Performance:

LG G4 has lesser battery life as compared to its other competitors. It uses snapdragon 808 hexa-core rather snapdragon octa-core 810 chipset that allows to generate less pressure on battery and less heat generally. It does not get hot as compared to other devices. Playing games on this smartphone gives just fine performance. Apps load quite quickly. The only problem is with the battery life which is low. There are power saving options available such as Battery & Power Saving Game optimizer, which adjusts the video quality in the game and Battery saver which limits background services when battery drops to 15%.

Technical specifications:

It has IPS LCD capacitive multi-touch, touchscreen, 5.5 inches screen with 1440×2560 pixel resolution. It works on GSM/HPSA/LET networks. It comes with Android Version 5.1 Lollipop. It uses Qualcomm MSM8992 snapdragon 808 chipset with dual core 1.8GHz Cortex-A57 processor. It comes with 32GB internal memory and 3GB RAM. Communication options are available with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, infrared ports, USB, Stereo FM radio. Battery is 3000mAh Li-Ion which gives up to 10hrs of talk time.

Verdict:

The LG G4 has quite promising market with its Quantum HD display, Leather finish back options, great camera performance and the interesting look with ultra-subtle curve. With its bigger size, high-performance camera, color packed 5.5 inch screen it has all the advantages to create a good place for itself in market.
